The broad applications of AI in many fields lead us to wonder: what should we do with AI at work? Its purported efficiency, reliability and speed have given rise to divergent perspectives. The socio-pessimistic stance asserts that humans will be replaced, leading to job losses and increased inequality, while a more techno-optimistic position sees cooperation between AI and humans as emancipatory, enabling humans to focus on meaningful and creative tasks. Whatever the perspective, AI has implications for the value of work and working conditions in the future. This conference aims to propose a social philosophy of AI and work, anchored in an ethical framework but also through empirical case studies. With contributions from international researchers, we will examine the history of the debate on technological replacement, working conditions with AI and transformations in notions of equity and justice.
Place & date
The conference will take place on the Saint-Martin-d'Hères campus at the Maison de la Création et de l'Innovation (tramway B and C, stop at Gabriel Fauré), in the amphitheatre. Participants will be welcome on the first floor.
The conference will start on Monday, November 20, and will welcome participants from 1:30 pm. It will run for three days until Wednesday, November 22.
Registration is required to participate, even online. For organizational reasons, it is necessary to register before Monday November 13 to take part in the buffets.
